Learning to be happy by ourselves, Learning to have inner peace or be imperturbable to the outside; Learning to love expressing an understanding of the necessary evolutionary process of the self and others, a virtue that is expressed through a willingness to serve unconditionally, with joy and enthusiasm.
Some History…
The winter solstice is a highly energetic date for the western hemisphere, reason why December 25th was a date of celebration through history.
The ancient people celebrated during the winter solstice (from December 21st) an event related to the god or gods of the sun.
The Romans celebrated on December 25th the feast of “Natalis Solis Invicti” or “Birth of the unconquered sun”, associated with the birth of Apollo. The Germans and Scandinavians celebrated on December 26th the birth of Frey, Nordic god of the rising sun, rain and fertility.
The Aztecs celebrated during winter, the coming of Huitzilopochtli, the god of sun and war. The Incas celebrated the rebirth of the sun god Inti and the feast was called Capac Raymi or Festival of the powerful sun. Christianity also connected the “rebirth of the sun” with the birth of Jesus.
Before the Christian era, it was a celebration called the feast of abundance, on December 25th. As Christians did not want to conflict with the Pagan customs, they decided to include the feast of abundance within the Christmas festivity and then instituted it on December 25th.
All these celebrations honor the meaning of the word Nativity which in Latin is Nativitas, meaning ‘birth’.
Although nobody knows exactly when Jesus was born, it certainly is the best time to celebrate the birth of the Inner Child inside each of us.
What is the Inner Child?
The birth of the Inner Child refers to the birth of Love within us.
Our process of the development of consciousness in the human experience begins at the first level and develops up to the seventh level.
The inner child that has been dormant for 39,000 years is born on the fourth level. It means that as an individual, I stop evolving automatically and begin to enter in a process of conscious evolution.
The evolution of consciousness from the 4th to the 7th level can take 1000 years of development in order to become an enlightened master.
Christmas is associated with this wonderful process and is the reason it was connected with the birth of the Master Jesus.
How to know that I am giving birth to my Inner Child?
There are several signs showing me that I am giving birth to my inner child or that I am taking charge of my own evolution of consciousness:
- I stop to depend on the external environment and fully manage my life from inside.
- I begin to take responsibility for my life and my own results.
- I stop believing that someone can hurt me, that anyone can harm or benefit me, and I am equally aware that I can not harm or benefit anyone.
- I do not blame anyone because I know that guilt does not exist.
- I accept that mistakes are a form of evaluation and what I need to learn about myself.
- I begin to evolve voluntarily and consciously, rather than automatically, which means I stop asking others to solve my problems. I understand that I am the only one who can solve my problems because they are not outside but within me.
When I follow these principles as an individual, then I am giving “birth” or experiencing Christmas because from this moment:
- There is no rancor or resentment or suffering.
- The idea of injustice disappears from my mind as I understand that these concepts are originated only in beliefs.
- I understand that the place where I am is perfect for my own development, the same way the place where others are is perfect for their own development.
- I choose to voluntarily work on myself and not on others.
- I decide to perfect my spirit and to level myself with others.
From this point, my experience will be completely different because of all limitations associated with suffering, hatred, guilt, resentment, and possessiveness end.
Coming back to the symbolism that different cultures have used throughout history, the sun or light is “reborn” to illuminate the rest of the journey ahead.
This is the reason why Christmas is celebrated as a festivity full of joy, music, sharing, peace because this is the condition that I have taken at this stage of my spiritual development.
Christmas time represents a rebirth of the kingdom of LOVE
The symbolism of the ritual during Christmas season
The Nativity and rites celebrated at this time, as well as mythology left by ancient cultures, have a great symbolic meaning.
What do Christmas symbols represent?
The allegory of the nativity represents the birth of the Inner Child in a place where animals feed. This means the birth of conscious evolution or birth of Love within me, in a mind saturated with concepts, beliefs and animal-type behaviors.
- The nativity represents the mental world, the place within me where my mental pollution is located.
- The stable is the place where the cattle feed and sleep, reflecting limitations in my mind.
- The straw consists of food for the animal. The thoughts that fuel my limitations.
- The crib represents clear thinking where the Inner Child is born, the consciousness of Love.
- The donkey signifies the ignorance (believe that I know) and the stubbornness of the mind that will not obey. The part that makes the necessary mistakes for my own learning.
- The ox reflects the meekness, the strength of will, constancy of inner work.
- The Sheep is the ability to be obedient and follow the teachings of Love that guide the flock. I recognize it when I let myself be lead with flexibility and comprehension.
- Lights represent the symbol of enlightenment of the soul to facilitate the review of myself. Thus in my mind (the stable) shines the light, keeping away any thoughts of resentment, anger or vanity.
- The Birth (December 24-25) represents the birth of the Inner Child (Consciousness) in me and the coming of the kingdom of Love in the human experience (release of suffering).
- Gifts consist of sharing the inner values with others: to serve or give the best of myself with happiness and peace, without condition or restriction. These are virtues that make the state of Christmas.
- The Three Magi (otherwise known as the three wise men or kings) represent the three kingdoms. These are three regents who are separated and, with the birth of the Inner Child, come together under a single presence recently born.
- The reign of emotions is depicted in the myrrh
- The reign of the ego is represented in the incense, as volatile as the feelings that arise from beliefs.
- The reign of gold represents the golden light, which in turn represents the comprehension and awareness as reflected in wisdom.
These three kingdoms are constantly in conflict. The emotions are in conflict with feelings, feelings, and emotions with comprehension. This is why it is difficult to follow what consciousness dictates because emotions win over or feelings are hurt. In the end, even though I understand that no one can hurt me, I nevertheless experience internal conflict.
This conflict is resolved when the three reigns surrender to the kingdom of Love or consciousness. This entails that the reigns cease to act independently and instead unite under the power of Love.
